THS LIVE | AI Stocks Crater, Jobs Surge 165K, BoE Hikes & Oil Near $100
Wall Street is getting two very different signals. The Nasdaq 100 plunged 6.4% Thursday as the Democratic sweep raised fears of new data-center restrictions. Goldman estimates states facing potential curbs account for 45% of planned US capacity. But this morning's jobs report blew past forecasts: 165,000 payrolls versus 65,000 expected, unemployment down to 4.1%, and wages up 0.4%. Consumer sentiment also jumped to 51 from 48, although inflation expectations remain elevated at 4.3% and fears of an AI bubble are growing. Across the Atlantic, the Bank of England hiked rates to 4%, warning inflation could approach 5% next year. Brent is back near $100 after this week's plunge. Is the AI trade unwinding while a resilient economy gives the Fed cover to hike again? Live at 11.
